Michael Flaherty got his trick-or-treating in early on Saturday patrolling the streets of Charlestown, hoping to sway last-minute voters with the election now just a few days away.
Flaherty is staying aggressive, trying to convince undecided voters that he is within striking distance. "This is a single-digit race and it's been that way for a few weeks now. So as we're closing in, there's still a large percentage of voters here in Boston who are expected to vote in this election who are undecided. And so for the next three days, I need to make a strong compelling case, if that happens, there will be a new mayor on Nov. 3."
Across town in Dorchester, Mayor Tom Menino did his own trick-or-treating meeting and greeting at a Halloween party at the Strand Theatre.
Menino confessed to some relief that the campaign is nearly over. "I just enjoy this," he said sarcastically. "(I) love working 17, 18 hours a day

get back to governing the city. You have to be out there campaigning. It can be a distraction, but you have to get out there."
Councilor Flaherty is hoping the pundits and others who predict he will lose will be tricked this Tuesday. Menino is obviously hoping for a treat another term at City Hall.
Menino is already the longest serving mayor in Boston history. He became acting mayor in July of 1993 before being elected to his first term in November of that year.
