U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy won't be making a repeat appearance in the second part of the annual Figawi race off Cape Cod this year.
Kennedy sat out the first leg of race from Hyannisport to Nantucket on Saturday, but he didn't rule out sailing on the return leg from the island back to the Cape on Monday.
Last year, Kennedy raced the reverse leg shortly after being diagnosed with a brain tumor.
But Kennedy spokesman Keith Maley said Monday that the senator wanted to sail with his family this holiday weekend.
On Monday, the senior senator was spotted with his son Ted Jr., his wife Vicki and Ted Kennedy III watching the finish of the race in his boat "Mya."
The senator spent three hours on the boat with his family.
