CBS
Sen. Ted Kennedy's memoir "
True Compass" hit bookstores Monday.
It's already the second best selling book on
barnesandnoble.com and
amazon.com.
The 532-page autobiography is listed by its publisher at $35.
Kennedy finished the book the first inside look at life in the Kennedy family just months before he died.
Kennedy talks about the assassinations of his brothers, his life in politics and the deadly accident at Chappaquiddick in 1969.
According to the
Washington Post, Kennedy never had the chance to read the finished product.
An advance copy of the book arrived at his Hyannis Port compound on the day he died, but he was reportedly too weak to open the package.
CBS's "60 Minutes"
aired an interview Sunday that Kennedy gave to his publisher discussing the book about five months before he died.
