WBZ Wins Prestigious Edward R. Murrow Awards
WBZ-TV Takes Top Honors Including "Overall Excellence"
Boston's WBZ-TV News has won two, distinguished 2007 regional "Edward R. Murrow Awards." The awards were announced by the Radio-Television News Directors Association & Foundation (RTNDA/F) and represent outstanding achievements in electronic journalism.
WBZ-TV received the top honor in the "News Series" category for "At Home with the Candidates," the station's series of interviews by anchor Lisa Hughes with each of the 2006 Massachusetts Democratic gubernatorial candidates. For the second consecutive year, WBZ-TV News also won the "Overall Excellence" honor for exceptional journalism in newscasts and news coverage.
"Everyone in the newsroom is dedicated to providing New Englanders with the best news coverage in the region," said Jennifer Street, News Director for WBZ-TV. "Because of the hard work I see everyday from this team, I can't say I am totally surprised by the wins, but I am entirely delighted. It is a great honor to be recognized with these 'Murrows.'"
Earlier this month, WBZ-TV won two Associated Press awards receiving honors for top "Weathercast" as well as "Website."
Boston's WBZ-TV is part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.
