BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Jeff Kiernan has been named News Director for Boston's WBZ-TV and TV38, it was announced today by the stations' President and General Manager, Ed Piette. Kiernan will begin his new position on Monday, September 24.
Kiernan comes to WBZ-TV and TV38 from WCCO-TV, Minneapolis' CBS owned-and-operated station, where he has been News Director for four years.
"Jeff is a quality individual who has outstanding news integrity, judgment, and instincts," said Piette when making the announcement. "He possesses a great deal of experience and a winning track record that will be essential to leading the News department's development and moving both stations forward. I know first-hand that Jeff's leadership was integral to making 'CCO the Twin Cities' leading local news operation, and I'm confident he has what it takes to lead WBZ-TV News to #1."
"To help reclaim the heritage of WBZ-TV is a unique opportunity," said Kiernan. "It will be an honor and privilege to work along side the on-air and off-air staff as we create relevant and engaging broadcast journalism and serve on-line and new media users. There will be plenty of hard work and we will have some fun too."

He started his broadcast journalism career at Milwaukee's WISN-AM/WLQT-FM later moving to television at WISN-TV.
