Red Sox Agree To New Deal With Mirabelli

BOSTON (WBZ) ― The Red Sox have agreed to a new, one-year deal with veteran back-up catcher Doug Mirabelli.

He will be paid $550,000 with incentives that can reach one million.  Completion of the deal is pending a physical.

Mirabelli has spent parts of the past seven seasons with the Red Sox.

The 37-year-old, who hit just .202 with 5 home runs and 16 RBI last season with the World Champions, is once again expected to serve primarily as knuckleballer Tim Wakefield's personal catcher.
