Honeymoon Bridge
As you drive into this quiet town, you will likely pass through one of its best known landmarks -
Honeymoon Bridge. It's one of about 50 covered bridges in New Hampshire, spanning the Ellis River. At the intersection of Routes 16 and 16A, the 'paddleford truss' wooden bridge was built in 1876.
Jackson Falls
A small falls that rushes in the springtime, Jackson Falls sits right off Route 16A in the center of Jackson Village . On a nice day you can find people dipping their feet in the cool water pools, or picnicking by the water's edge.
If you are more adventurous, there are a number of more dramatic falls within driving distance. Both
Crystal Cascade, on Route 16 in Pinkham Notch, and
Glen Ellis Falls, just south of Pinkham Notch on Route 16, offer hikes up terrain that amateur hikers can handle, to view the natural beauty of the falls.
Attitash Mountain
Attitash Mountain is located in Bartlett, New Hampshire, eight miles from Jackson. In the winter it is a premier downhill ski location, but in the warmer months it has much to offer, right in the shadow of Mount Washington.
The
Alpine Slide is an attraction for the whole family. Kids must be at least four feet tall to ride alone on the slide, but younger children can ride on the same sled with a parent.
This is just one of the thrills available at Attitash Mountain. You can try the
eurobungy trampoline and the
waterslides, climbing the rock wall or experiencing the exhilaration of the round-trip
ride on the ski lift to the top of the mountain. What ever you choose, it is sure to make for a day to remember, filled with excitement and fun in the great outdoors.
There are challenging
downhill mountain biking trails for riders who are experienced. Spectacular views and exhilarating runs are the reward for the steep terrain.
Great Glens Trails
Jackson, New Hampshire, and the whole Mount Washington Valley are the perfect destination for mountain biking. If you have your own bikes, bring them along, but if not, don't worry. There are plenty of local outlets where you can rent a bike for an hour or for a day.
The trails at
Great Glens are perfect for the whole family. Located on Route 16 in Pinkham Notch, you will ride through meadows of wildflowers with great views of the forests and the mountains. If you are a birdwatcher, you'll be rewarded with some great sightings.
There are also kayak tours available at Great Glen.
Story Land
For more than 50 years, generations have enjoyed the
Story Land amusement park. Although it has evolved over the years, the simplicity and charm of Storyland has made this a favorite with families, especially families with young children. You can meet the Old Lady in the Shoe, the Billy Goats Gruff, drive your own swan boat, or take a ride in Cinderella's coach. Included in the $25 entrance fee are the shows, which include a circus and musical stage shows.
Storyland is just down the road from Jackson, on Route 16 in Glen.
Just Enjoy the Views
