Mediterranean Diet Helps With Alzheimer's Disease
by Dr. Mallika Marshall
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Studies have shown that eating a Mediterranean-style diet, which contains a lot of fruits and vegetables, can help prevent Alzheimer's disease.
New research says it may also help patients with the disease live longer.
Scientists followed nearly 200 people diagnosed with Alzheimer's and found that the more closely patients followed a Mediterranean diet, the longer they lived.
Another new study found that eating honey may help soothe your mind.
Studies show that mice that were fed honey were less anxious and performed better on memory tests. Researchers believe honey may help improve memory because it contains antioxidants, which can prevent cell damage in the body.
Of course, more studies need to be done to confirm that honey may have the same benefits in humans.
