Jonathan Papelbon To Appear On Letterman
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon will appear Wednesday night on the "Late Show with David Letterman."
The pitcher with a personality has become the public ring leader of the 2007 Red Sox. His high-stepping version of an Irish step dance has become a Red Sox Nation phenomenon.
Papelbon first showed off his fancy footwork while celebrating the Red Sox winning the AL East. He did an on-field encore after the Sox clinched the ALCS.
There was no Papelbon dance after the Red Sox World Series win. Instead, he told fans they would have to wait for the parade, and they got what they were waiting for. Tuesday Papelbon danced his way down the parade route while riding on a flatbed truck with the Dropkick Murphys. But he saved his best high-stepping for City Hall Plaza. Once the truck reached the plaza, Papelbon and teammates Mike Timlin and Hideki Okajima treated the crowd to a true Red Sox spectacle. You can watch their fancy footwork in the video to the right of your screen.
Wednesday afternoon, Jonathan Papelbon is in New York to tape the Late Show with David Letterman. The episode will air on WBZ-TV at 11:35, following WBZ-TV News at 11 p.m.
WBZ's Dan Roche will be in New York to cover the Red Sox sensation's appearance.
