Red Sox Sign Alex Cora To 2-Year Deal

BOSTON (CBS4) ― The Red Sox have signed infielder Alex Cora to a two-year contract extending through the 2008 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Cora, 31, had filed for free agency in October. He hit .238 with one homer and 18 RBI in 96 games with the Red Sox in 2006.

Cora started 47 games at shortstop, 10 games at 2nd base, and four games at 3rd base while committing just seven errors.

For his career, Cora is hitting .244 with 31 home runs and 215 RBI in 876 games with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians and Red Sox.
