"I know in my heart that I was here for everyone of those last steps we took to become that ever
Whatever capacity that may be, I experienced it all and I was part of it."
Wide receiver Troy Brown has not seen a lot of playing time this season, but he's still part of a New England Patriots team that is one game away from making history. "It will be wonderful to talk about in the years to come."
Brown sat down with WBZ's Bob Lobel before Media Day on Tuesday and talked about the team and his role on the squad. "I've been here for a while. I've been here for the first loss in New Orleans and to know what it felt like to feel like you're never going to get back again."
In fact, the 36-year-old has spent his entire career with New England since he was drafted in the eighth round out of Marshall in 1993.
Brown missed most of the 2007 season recovering from an off-season knee injury, and since then, has barely been on the field. But he still says he's as determined as ever. "As a competitor, you want to be out on the field contributing that way, but I've been out at practice trying to give it the best I can and do everything I can every week just in case I play."
Injuries have not really been a factor for the New England team this year, which has also limited Brown's playing time. "I can't say it's been easy, but as a competitor, you want to be out on the field and you want to be competing, but that hasn't been the case," Brown said.
It is unclear if Brown will play in the Super Bowl, but regardless of what happens, Brown knows he has always tried his hardest and is part of something great. "All I ever ask for in life is a chance, and that's all I ever asked for
You try to make the best of it and that's what I've done."
