Reports: Red Sox Decline Option On Alex Gonzalez

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Monday should be a busy day for the Red Sox.

They must decide whether to pick up next year's contract options for Victor Martinez, Tim Wakefield and Jason Varitek.

Both the Boston Globe and Boston Herald are reporting that the Sox have declined their $6 million option on shortstop Alex Gonzalez.

The Sox could still bring him back next season for less money.
