Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan is the third player taken in Saturday's NFL draft, selected by the Atlanta Falcons.
Ryan is the most polished and most decorated player available at his position, earning ACC Player of the Year honors last year while capturing the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm and Manning awards.
Ryan led the ACC in passing yards, completions and touchdowns in 2007, setting Boston College single-season records by hitting on 388 of his 654 passes for 4,507 yards, 31 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. He played most of the 2006 season with a broken bone in his left foot, but it didn't stop him from completing 263 of his 427 passes for 2,942 yards, 15 TDs and 15 picks.
Ryan appears to be a complete quarterback and a great student of the position, showing an ability to make adjustments under center. He displays good arm strength and possesses a quick release that allows him to avoid sacks. Ryan also has shown an ability to play through pain and owns many of the intangibles that make an outstanding quarterback.
