Red Sox Unveil Special Fourth Of July Caps

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Major League Baseball is doing something patriotic for the Fourth of July.

Every team will wear a special "stars and stripes" themed cap.

The United States flag will appear in the team's logo.

It's part of a new effort by Major League Baseball to raise funds and awareness for Welcome Back Veterans, which is trying to raise $100 million and provide 100,000 jobs for veterans returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The caps are also for sale.  A portion of the proceeds will go to Welcome Back Veterans.

There will also be ceremonial bases, home plates, and lineup cards this weekend along with special auctions for the cause.

The hats will also be worn on September 11.
