Four fans sitting along the boards at the Bruins game were treated for cuts when a hit by Boston forward Milan Lucic shattered the glass and sent shards raining down on the seats Thursday night at the Garden.
Watch The HitTwo fans were treated at the arena for cuts on their faces, and then taken to a hospital for further care. Two others had cuts on their hands from touching the broken glass, but they returned to watch the game after treatment, Bruins spokesman Matt Chmura said.
"I looked over to see the two (fans). They had their face down," Lucic said after the
Bruins' 4-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. "I was just hoping they were all right. They pay good money to have seats like that, and that's the last thing you want to see happen to a fan."
Fans Moved To Luxury Box
All of the fans in the first two rows in the section near the goal line were moved to a luxury box to watch the rest of the game.
The glass above the boards shattered when Lucic hit Maple Leafs defenseman Mike Van Ryn just 20 seconds into the second period.
"I'm still itchy. It seems like it's caught everywhere on me," Van Ryn said. "I don't know, it just exploded. I feel bad for the lady that got cut."
