Mark Recchi has agreed to stay with the Boston Bruins.
The NHL's sixth leading active goal scorer has agreed to a one-year deal, a person familiar with the negotiations said Thursday on condition of anonymity because final details were still being worked out. The club had no comment.
Boston obtained Recchi, 41, from Tampa Bay on March 4 as it tried to improve for the stretch drive. The Bruins ended up with the best record in the Eastern Conference but lost to the Carolina Hurricanes in a seven-game, second-round series.
Recchi has been part of three Stanley Cup-winning teams and has 545 goals and 897 assists in 1,490 regular-season games for seven clubs.
