Kessel Appears At Franklin School For Show & Tell

FRANKLIN (WBZ) ― Two Franklin boys got to meet Boston Bruins forward Phil Kessel at the John F. Kennedy Elementary School Tuesday.

John and Austin Brown are 11-year-old twin fifth graders at the school. The brothers got to introduce Kessel to their classmates after the Brown family won a "Show and Tell" experience through the Boston Bruins Foundations charity auction.

Kessel arrived sporting a sling after surgery last month to repair a torn rotator cuff and labrum, but his message to the class was simple.

"You always gotta have fun, enjoy it because, you know, that's the most important part about it," Kessel said.

After posing for photos with the class, Kessel and the twins were chauffeured to the Brown's home in the Bruins' Hummer.

WBZ reporter Alice Cook asked the brothers about their experience with Kessel.

"Our coach always says make sure you're having fun and everything and a National Hockey League player, an NHL player, told us to have fun so now I know it's definitely important and that's what got him to the NHL," Austin Brown said.

Students also had the opportunity to ask Kessel a variety of questions and each received a Bruins gift pack.
