Celtics Unveil New License Plate Design

WATERTOWN (WBZ) ― Attention Celtics fans. You can now mark the team's 17 NBA titles with a new license plate on your car. The team and the Registry of Motor Vehicles officially unveil the plate design Tuesday afternoon.

The new Celtics license plate design adds the words '17-Time World Champions' under the team logo. The logo itself also got a slight update. Sales of the specialty plates benefit Children's Hospital Boston.

Glen 'Big Baby' Davis and the Celtics Dancers are scheduled to attend the unveiling Tuesday afternoon at the Watertown Registry at the Watertown Mall. Fans are invited to take pictures with Davis and the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

You will be able to apply for one of the new plates on the Celtics web site beginning late Tuesday. The license plates will be available to the public once the RMV receives 1,500 applications.

The registry already offers more than a dozen different specialty plates for everything from breast cancer research, to wildlife and sports teams.
