Garnett, Allen Appear On Letterman
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett made a quick stop in New York City Wednesday to be guests on the "Late Show with David Letterman."
The show taped in the early evening in Manhattan.
Letterman touched upon the NBA Championship. Ray Allen had a touching moment when Letterman asked about Allen's 17-month-old son who was just diagnosed with diabetes.
"At first it was a shock, and it hurt us," Allen said. "Seeing him in the hospital after the game and seeing him connected to tubes, as a parent, it bothered me tremendously. But now we're on the right track, and we're definitely going to take care of him for the rest of his life."
Letterman responded by pulling out the NBA Championship trophy and said Allen should give it as a gift to his son, Walker.
WBZ's Dan Roche caught up with Allen and Garnett after the show's taping and asked them what the experience was like.
"It was a surreal moment," Allen said. "He walked out before the show and spoke to us, and I was almost taken by storm because we were just talking to ourselves getting ready and here he comes. It was a great moment."
"It was cool, man. He makes you really relaxed. Obviously, we're all fans of him," Garnett said. "Dave's a good guy."
The duo also looked ahead to the parade and what should be a big celebration in Boston.
"Expecting it to just be crazy, to be honest," Garnet said. "I'm going to enjoy it. I'm going to embrace it and just enjoy it with my guys, and I have no earthly idea what this is going to be like, but I'm going to enjoy it."
