Celtics Fan's Despair Turned Around In NBA Finals

HOLDEN (WBZ) ― His face said it all. This image of Celtics fan Sean Morrow of Holden was captured in an unknown Boston bar on May 22, 2007 - the night of the 2007 NBA Draft.

History seemed headed in the opposite direction a year ago.

After finishing with the second worst record in the league, the NBA draft lottery took the team to a new lowlight. The Celtics went into the draft with one of the worst records in the NBA. Their chances of having the first or second pick in the draft - thus securing Greg Oden or Kevin Durant - were nearly 40 percent. The lowest they could possibly pick was fifth.

The face of the fans of the fading dynasty was worn by Sean Morrow of Holden.

"Give us the pose. Relive the moment," said WBZ's Ron Sanders.

"Oh, it was devastating. I don't know if I can," Morrow said.

After this lowlight was replayed on WBZ in search of the man behind the expression, Morrow's brother saw it on wbztv.com, sent him a text message, Morrow got in touch and that's how we found him.

"At the time, they didn't have Ray Allen or Kevin Garnett, and I knew Pierce was unhappy at the time," Morrow said.

"You thought the dynasty was going to become ancient history?" Sanders asked.

"Yeah. I thought they were going to be struggling for another five years to be honest with you," Morrow said. "And I was just, uggh. Looking up at the TV and just shocked and devastated."

Now that it appears Sean is something of a good luck charm, Celtics fans will be happy to hear he's going to Game 2 Sunday night at the Garden.

And if they go to Game 7, maybe they'll call him in.
