The Boston Celtics' season begins on Tuesday, but they won't have forward Glen 'Big Baby' Davis.
WBZ's Dan Roche has confirmed that Davis has a broken thumb.
It is unclear how it happened, but
The Boston Herald is reporting he was hurt Sunday night during an incident with a former teammate, who had flown up from Louisiana.
According to Herald sources, Davis was defending himself at the time.
Celtics coach Doc Rivers said he didn't know much, but said the injury did not happen at practice.
"He was complaining and we told him 'Get out of here and go get an X-ray.'"
It is unclear how many games Davis will miss.
The Celtics tip off their season in Cleveland tonight against the Cavaliers.
