Flutie Honored With Statue At BC

CHESTNUT HILL (WBZ) ― Boston College honored its best known graduate Friday with a statue.

B.C. dedicated a bronze statue of Doug Flutie.

Flutie, who won the 1984 Heisman Trophy, was there for the unveiling outside gate D of Alumni Stadium.

"I'm around here a lot but I don't know if I can come here anymore," Flutie joked. "Do you walk by your own statue? I don't know."

The statue shows Flutie about to release his famous "Hail Mary" pass to beat Miami in 1984.

The Eagles went on to beat Houston in the Cotton Bowl and finished with a No. 5 national ranking that season.

Flutie finished his career as BC's all-time leading passer with 10,579 yards.
