Beckett's Elbow Examined, Doctor Says He's Fine

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett has returned home from the doctor and is fine, WBZ's Dan Roche has learned.

Beckett was sent to Alabama to see Dr. Andrews to have his right elbow and arm examined.

The right-hander has not pitched since Aug. 17, when he reported numbness and tingling in his right arm, but could pitch one week from Friday in Texas.

In the meantime, Beckett has been put on the DL list so the team can use the roster spot for another player.

Beckett is 11-9 with a 4.34 ERA this year. He said his elbow has bothered him on and off this season.

In other Red Sox news, JD Drew had an epidural for his ailing back and tells Roche he is feeling much better.

Sean Casey has been placed on the DL list, retroactive Aug. 20, for a neck strain.
