Revs Auction Game-Worn Jerseys For Charity
FOXBORO (WBZ) ―
Jerseys worn in Thursday night's game by the 11
New England Revolution starters are being
auctioned off to benefit the families of military members who have fallen in service to their country.
One hundred percent of the auction proceeds will go the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund. The fund was established earlier this year to provide programs and services to the families of servicemen and women who have died in uniform.
The auction is part of "Salute to Heroes Night" at Gillette Stadium. Several activities commemorating the events of Sept. 11, 2001, were held before and during the Major League Soccer match between the Revolution and Chivas USA.
Three thousand complimentary tickets to the game were donated to members of the military, police, fire and first responders.
Both the Revolution and Chivas USA wore commemorative patches on their sleeves that were replicas of those worn by MLS teams after the 9/11 attacks. The 11 Revolution jerseys being auctioned were signed by the players who wore them.
The auction will close Sept. 22 at 9 p.m. For more information click
