Patriots Sign John Lynch

FOXBOROUGH (AP) ― The Patriots have signed former Denver Broncos safety John Lynch.

The nine-time Pro Bowler signed a contract with the Patriots after coach Bill Belichick met with him Wednesday and after the 36-year-old veteran took a physical.

The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Lynch was released by the Broncos August 1. He said he parted ways amicably with the team after telling coach Mike Shanahan he wasn't happy with his reduced playing time.

This isn't the first time the Patriots have shown interest in Lynch. The team courted him in 2004 before he signed as a free agent with Denver. He played his first 11 NFL seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

On Thursday, the Patriots also signed rookie offensive lineman Stephan Sene.  The 6-and-a-half foot, 310 pound lineman was released by the Rams on July 28.

The Patriots also released first-year wide receiver Chris Dunlap.
