FOXBOROUGH (WBZ) ― Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel was named AFC Offensive Player of The Week Wednesday.

In his first career start on Monday Night Football, he completed 18 of 24 passes for 185 yards with a career-high three touchdowns as the Patriots crushed the Broncos 41-7 at Gillette Stadium. 

His 136.3 passer rating was a career-high and the highest in the NFL for Week 8.

Cassel joins Tom Brady, Drew Bledsoe, Scott Zolak and Tony Eason as the fifth Patriots quarterback to win the award.
