Coates Elected To Patriots Hall Of Fame

FOXBOROUGH (AP) ― Tight end Ben Coates is the newest member of the New England Patriots Hall of Fame.

Coates, who played for the team for nine seasons from 1991-99, is the 13th member and the first tight end in the local shrine. He was selected by Patriots fans.

Coates caught 50 touchdown passes with the Patriots, more than any other tight end in franchise history and second on the team's all-time list.

He is third all-time with 490 receptions and fourth in receiving yards.

A five-time Pro Bowl selection, he caught 96 passes in 1994, a franchise record at the time.

Induction ceremonies will be held this fall.
