Pats Release 4 Free Agents Ahead Of Roster Limits

FOXBOROUGH (WBZ) ― The New England Patriots have released four free agents ahead of regular season roster limits.

The team announced Friday that it is letting go second-year nose tackle Steve Fifita, first-year offensive lineman Jimmy Martin, fourth-year cornerback Jeff Shoate and rookie tight end Jonathan Stupar.

Following the transactions, the Patriots will have 71 players on their active roster. The NFL's 53-man active roster limit takes effect Saturday afternoon.

Fifita was signed as a free agent in May. He played 13 games with the Miami Dolphins last year.
Signed this month, Shoate played 14 games with the Denver Broncos.
