Patriots Release Lynch, Jackson

FOXBORO (WBZ) ― The New England Patriots have released veteran safety John Lynch and wide receiver Chad Jackson on Sunday.

Lynch, 36, was signed by the Patriots on Aug. 15. Before joining the Patriots, Lynch played 15 NFL season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Denver Broncos. "It goes without saying but John is an all-time great safety, one of the league's classiest professionals and his elite play speaks for itself," said Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick. "As has been the case in other situations, I would not rule anything out down the road."

Jackson, 23, was selected by the Patriots in the 36th round of the 2006 NFL Draft. Jackson played 12 games with the Patriots his rookie year. Last season, he was activated from the PUP list on Nov. 7 and played in two games for New England.
