Bruschi Still Loves Coming To Work

He first stepped onto an NFL field in 1995, and 189 games and three Super Bowls later, Tedy Bruschi still can't wait to come to work. "I just love it. I just have fun, and I think that's always been obvious to the way I play that I have a lot of fun out there. Fortunately, I have been able to contribute to a winning football team also, but for me, first and foremost, I just love what I do."
As he enters his 14th year as a Patriot, it could be a very strange year for him. Mike Vrabel is gone traded to Kansas City,
Rodney Harrison possibly retiring as well. "You have the initial shock of it. When I got the call from Mike and he told me he's on a plane going to Kansas City, you know. And I'm like 'Why you doin' that?' (laugh). 'Tedy, I've been traded.' And there was a long silence."
And as for the 36-year-old Harrison, Bruschi loved having him as a teammate. "I think he had the right formula and I think that formula wasn't present until he showed us it, you know? I don't think there was a safety that could do the things that he could do. If he decides not to play, I would more than hope that he would be in the Hall of Fame."
Bruschi and the Patriots have a few more months to get themselves ready. Their first preseason game is against the Eagles on Aug. 13. Regular season play begins on Sept. 14 against the Bills.
