He is a massive man in a big man's game. With Vince Wilfork out nursing an ankle, Terdell Sands is ready to fill some very large shoes.

"I play some nose, a little three… It depends on the scheme," he says.

Sands, who is listed at 335 pounds, has spent the last six season with the Raiders. His biggest asset is obvious. "My pad height. If I bend 3 inches, I'm still taller that the other guy."

Ever since high school, Sands has been the biggest guy in the room. "People always asked how tall I am. I got a shirt with 5-20 on it… I don't have to say it, you do the math."

So here's what he means. Five-20 is really 5 feet 20 inches, which translates to 6 feet 8 inches.

Next to me, Sands is a giant, and needless to say, the Patriots will be expecting big things.
