BOSTON (WBZ) ― Daisuke Matsuzaka will open the AL championship series for the Red Sox against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The 18-game winner will start Game 1 Friday night in St. Petersburg, Fla.  He will be followed in the rotation by 2007 ALCS MVP Josh Beckett.

Jon Lester, who started Game 1 of the ALDS against the Angels, starts Game 3 when the series moves to Fenway Park on Monday afternoon.

Tim Wakefield, Boston's 42-year-old knuckleballer, will start Game 4.

WBZ's Dan Roche says the rotation "makes complete sense."  Read more in his blog
