Red Sox Minor League Player Has Hodgkin's Lymphoma

BOSTON (AP) ― A Boston Red Sox minor league first baseman has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, the Boston Red Sox announced Friday.

Anthony Rizzo, 18, is being treated as an out-patient at Massachusetts General Hospital after being diagnosed with limited stage classical Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

The Red Sox said he has an excellent chance of cure and complete recovery. He is returning to his home in Miami to under go treatment, which could take 6 to 8 months.

Rizzo is in his second year with the Boston organization after he was selected in the sixth round of the 2007 draft out of Majory Stoneman Douglas High School.

In 2008, he was hitting .373 with 11 RBI and last played in a game on April 26.
