Red Sox Josh Beckett Arrives At Spring Training
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Red Sox ace Josh Beckett has made his first appearance at the Red Sox' spring training facility in Fort Myers, Florida.
The 27-year-old right-hander is coming off a spectacular postseason in which he went 4-0 with a 1.20 ERA and 35 strikeouts in four playoff starts.
Beckett went 20-7 during the regular season, finishing second to Cleveland's C.C. Sabathia in the Cy Young Award voting.
Beckett took part in an informal workout Monday morning with a number of other major league and minor league pitchers for the Red Sox.
WBZ Radio's Jonny Miller reported Sunday that pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka showed up in Fort Myers and worked out for about an hour.
Sox pitchers and catchers are slated to report as a group Thursday with the team's first official workout slated for Saturday.
