Red Sox To Host Fan Talent Contest

BOSTON (WBZ) ― The Boston Red Sox are getting in on the search for local singing talent. In honor of the 100th anniversary of baseball's unofficial anthem Take Me Out To The Ballgame, Fenway fans are being invited to belt out their best version of the song.

The Sox Idol (our name, not theirs) contest kicks off on Tuesday, at the Red Sox home opener.

Fans with tickets can head to the Lower Concourse by Grandstand 6 in Right Field, from the 11:35 a.m. until the end of the 4th inning to take their audition. The contest runs from April 9 through May 4. Auditions will be taped at each home game from the time the gates open, through the 4th inning.

Fenway Nation will choose the finalists, by casting votes on RedSox.com. Then a celebrity panel will pick the winner from among three finalists. The grand prize winner, to be announced May 18, will have the chance to sing the baseball classic during the 7th inning stretch of a Red Sox home game.
