Colon Reports To Red Sox Camp

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WBZ) ― Former Cy Young award winner Bartolo Colon reported to spring training Tuesday to work himself into shape for a possible major league job with the Red Sox.

The 34-year-old right-hander was slowed by elbow and shoulder injuries the past two seasons. He became a free agent after pitching last year for the Los Angeles Angels.

Colon signed a minor-league contract Monday.

He was examined by Red Sox medical personnel then played catch with pitching coach John Farrell for about 15 minutes.

The 2005 Cy Young award winner last pitched on February 6 in the Caribbean World Series.
