Red Sox Re-Sign Kielty

BOSTON (WBZ) ― WBZ-TV's Dan Roche has confirmed that the Red Sox have come to terms with World Series hero outfielder Bobby Kielty on a one-year contract. The deal was was first reported by Gordon Edes of the Boston Globe.

The switch-hitting outfielder, who had a huge home run in the 4th and deciding game of the 2007 World Series against Colorado, will make $800,000 if he makes the team out of spring training. He also has the ability to make another $300,000 in incentives.

Kielty will be guaranteed $100,000 if he doesn't make the club.

Kielty hit .218 in the regular season with Boston and Oakland last season, but hit .500 in the postseason.

He will serve as a fifth outfielder and take some at-bats for J.D. Drew against lefties. He may also be insurance if Coco Crisp gets traded.
