Seven Red Sox Players Make AL All-Star Team

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Seven Red Sox players were chosen to represent the American League at this year's All-Star game at Yankee Stadium.

Kevin Yokilis, Dustin Pedroia, Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz – who has been replaced on the team because of a wrist injury – were all voted onto the team by fans.

Jonathan Papelbon, Jason Varitek and J.D. Drew were selected as reserve players by managers, coaches and players.

The last time seven players were voted onto an All-Star team was back in 2004, when seven Yankees players were chosen for the American League.

This is the first All-Star appearance for Pedroia, Youkilis and Drew.
