Red Sox To Open 2009 Season At Home

BOSTON (WBZ) ― The Boston Red Sox released their 2009 schedule Wednesday and they'll begin next season at home for the first time in seven years.

The Sox will host Tampa Bay Monday, April 6 at Fenway Park.

The Yankees will come to town April 24-26, June 9-11 and August 21-23. The Red Sox play their first game at the new Yankee Stadium Monday May 4. They'll return for two more series August 7-9 and September 25-27.

Interleague play will be against just National League East opponents next season. The Sox will host Atlanta, Florida and the New York Mets. They'll travel to Atlanta, Washington and Philadelphia.

The Sox will finish the 2009 season at home Sunday, October 4 against Cleveland.

Game times for the entire season will be released at a later date.
