BOSTON (WBZ) ― The Red Sox have released Friday night's lineup for Game 2 against the Angels.  Kevin Youkilis will replace Mike Lowell at third base.

Lowell -- who started in Game 1 -- has been battling a torn labrum in his right hip that will likely require surgery after the season.

Manager Terry Francona says Lowell's injury did not get any worse in the series opener and that he wanted to play tonight. Francona says the decision to keep him out of the lineup was a tough one. He indicated that Lowell could be back for Game 3 in Boston on Sunday.

Game 2 Lineup:

Jacoby Ellsbury (CF)
Dustin Pedroia (2nd)
David Ortiz (DH)
Kevin Youkilis (3rd)
J.D. Drew (RF)
Jason Bay (LF)
Mark Kotsay (1st)
Jason Varitek (C)
Alex Cora (SS)

Game 2 starts at 9:30 p.m. ET Friday. Dice K is on the mound for Boston against the Angels' Ervin Santana.
