Ortiz Out Of Lineup After 3rd Homer In Rehab Stint

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WBZ) ― David Ortiz won't be playing in the PawSox series finale against Toledo Sunday after hitting three consecutive ballgame home runs while making his rehab debut with Triple-A Pawtucket.

After hitting his third homer Saturday night, PawSox manager Ron Johnson announced that Ortiz wouldn't be in Sunday's lineup.

Ortiz played last week with the PawSox as part of his rehabilitation assignment after being sidelined since May 30 because of a partially torn tendon sheath in his wrist.

He is expected to return to the Red Sox for the home series with the New York Yankees on July 25.

The slugger couldn't help Pawtucket beat Toledo Saturday, as the Mud Hens won 13-5.

Ortiz was 1-for-4 with the homer.

The PawSox play in Pawtucket at 1 p.m. Sunday.
