Ortiz Gets 2 Hits In Portland Debut

PORTLAND, Maine (WBZ) ― For the first time in his minor league rehab tour, David Ortiz did not hit a home run Monday night.

Ortiz went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in his debut with the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs. The two hits were singles.

Portland beat the Connecticut Defenders, 8-2.

Ortiz will be the team's designated hitter for two more games before re-joining the Red Sox in Boston when they open a series with the Yankees at Fenway Park.

Ortiz's once-injured left wrist responded well during his visit to Triple-A Pawtucket over the weekend. He hit three home runs in three games.
