Ortiz Goes Hitless For Portland In Rehab Stint

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) ― Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz went hitless Tuesday in another rehab appearance with the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs.

Ortiz struck out looking in the first, reached on an error, scored in a five-run fourth inning and then grounded out twice.

It was his fifth minor league game since Ortiz was sidelined on May 30 because of a partial tear of the sheath that surrounds the tendon in his left wrist.

Ortiz said he feels better everyday before the Connecticut Defenders defeated Portland 18-6.

The slugger is scheduled to make his third and final appearance for Portland on tomorrow.

He is expected to return to the Red Sox on Friday for the beginning of a nine-game home series with New York, Los Angeles and Oakland.

Ortiz says he wants to go back home and start going back into his regular routine with the team.
