Red Sox Coaches Being Courted By Other Teams

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein said the Sox first base coach Tim Bogar and bench coach Brad Mills will interview with the Houston Astros about their their manager's job.

Epstein also said Monday that the Cleveland Indians had asked for permission to speak to pitching coach John Farrell, but that he said he would like to stay in Boston. "Before the Indians called, John expressed a strong desire to stay here and said he would not make himself a candidate for that job (as Indians manager) because of his desire to stay here."

"Based on everything we've talked about, my strong expectation is that he is going to stay here." Farrell would be allowed to interview if he wanted, Epstein said.

Stopped in the clubhouse on Monday, Farrell said he hadn't even thought about it yet.

The Astros fired manager Cecil Cooper and the Indians fired Eric Wedge, both in September.
