Manny's Back: Slugger Returns To Lineup

BOSTON (WBZ) ― The latest Manny Ramirez drama appears to be over as the slugger returned to the lineup after taking it easy the last couple games while nursing a sore right knee.

Red Sox manager Terry Francona met with Ramirez Friday night and told him he will be in the lineup and that the team expected him to play Saturday against the New York Yankees, WBZ's Steve Burton learned.

Ramirez batted fourth for the second game in the Yankees series at Fenway Park. The team went scoreless Friday night, losing the game 0-1.

On Friday, Ramirez was originally in the lineup but then told bench coach Brad Mills he couldn't play. The slugger under went an MRI during the game, which came back clean, Francona said during a postgame news conference.

So, the left-fielder is back in the lineup and started his return back with an RBI Saturday afternoon.
