A memorabilia collector from Canada says a rare 1954 Ted Williams baseball card he bought for $5,500 was stolen while he was staying at a motel in upstate New York.

State police say the collector told them the card was the only item missing from his belongings during a stay in early October at a motel in Farmington, near Rochester.

The collector, who asked not to be identified, is offering an unspecified reward for its return.

The legendary Boston Red Sox slugger is one of 20 players depicted in a series issued in 1954 by the Wilson Franks hot dog company.

Troopers are asking anyone with information about the card to contact them.
