Theo Agrees To New Contract With Red Sox

DANA POINT, Calif. (AP) ― Boston Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein has agreed to a new contract with the team.

Epstein revealed the agreement Monday, the first day of the annual GM meetings. He wouldn't reveal the length of the contract but said the deal was worked out a few weeks ago.

Epstein left Boston in October 2005 but returned to the organization three months later. His previous deal expired at the end of last month.

Under Epstein, the Red Sox won the World Series in 2004 and 2007.

Before that, they hadn't won the title since 1918.
