BOSTON (WBZ) ― IDINA MENZEL 
We begin with the story of Idina Menzel, who reached superstardom on Broadway with her performances in the hit musicals Wicked and Rent. She is an actress, singer/ songwriter, and the wife of another superstar, Taye Diggs.  Idina has a career on the fast track, but is determined to experience it one step at a time.
 
GETTING THE RIGHT FIT
Of course everybody's focused on the Boston Marathon this time of year.  It always inspires thousands of people to start a running regimen. Our guest, Colin Peddie, owner of Marathon Sports, says one of the reasons new runners don't stick with it-- is because they don't get proper fitting shoes.

JUST THINKING
I confess, having worked in television news for so long, I have become a deadline junkie. I have always thought I work best under pressure. The video has to be edited in a few minutes. No problem!  Want that copy by morning? I will work late into the night. Some of my best thoughts are made in fast- forward, and some of my best meals are eaten on the run. I'm not alone. We live in a caffeine-chugging, sugar-craving, adrenaline addicted culture, and we think that's normal. Adrenaline was never intended to be our primary energy source. It is activated when we are in a fight or flight mode; threatened by a lion, running from a bear, or when we're about to undertake something physically extraordinary like a 26 mile race. Many of us prefer to live life in the scary movies or on roller coast rides because we are addicted to the adrenaline. All that rushing about makes us feel important, useful.  But too much time in the fast lane can lead to a breakdown; sleeplessness, high blood pressure, heart disease. The best advice, slow down. Use other energy sources like proper rest, exercise, feed your spirit. Pace yourself. Ultimately, life's race is a marathon-- one that rewards endurance over speed.
