Just Thinking
The holiday season is supposed to be a joyful time, but what does it really mean! Especially as we face these endless hard economic realities? While the dictionary defines joy as great happiness, I follow a school of thought that draws a distinction between the two words. Happiness is based in condition or acqusition. I am happy when I eat ice cream. I am happy when I get a paycheck. Happiness is temporary. It can change as conditions change. If the paycheck goes, happiness follows. Joy, on the other had is not dependent on situations or circumstances. It is a state of consciousness, if you will. Joy on the other hand is not depended on situations or circumstances. It is a state consciousness. A certainty rooted in the meaning and purpose of all life, a recognition that life itself is a gift of divine grace, one of the best ways to experience joy is to slow down, cherish the moment and simply be grateful. Here's wishing you a joyous holiday.
Sunday is proud to present Ray Greene.
