Revival
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Sigrid Olsen
It was about a year agoo that fashion designer Sigrid Olsen found out her babyboomer fashion label, once one of the most successful in the country, was being dismantled by its corporate owner in favor of lines catering to younger clientele. Losing that and the use of her name was devastating, but Sigrid Olsen is creating something new.
Klezmer
Klezmer music began in medieval Europe, where bands of itinerant Jewish musicians went from town to town playing for festivals and special events. By the 1940's as immigrants became for more Americanized the tradition vanished, but there is now a revival thants to the Klezmer Conservatory Band from the New England Conservatory here in Boston.
Yoga Temple
Rabbi Michelle Robinson of Temple Emanuel in Newton may have her own definition of revival. The conservative Temple has a lively version of the Friday night Shabbat--and another new and unlikely program Rabbi Robinson hopes will revive not only the spirit but the bodies of synagogue members.
Charles Stith
Restoring the image and potential of Africa is the focus of this book, For Such a Time As This--African Leadership Challenges. Its author, director of Boston University's Presidential Archives and Research Center, former US ambassador to Tanzania, Charles Stith joins us.
Just Thinking
Designer Sigrid Olsen's midlife reinvention is inspiring. So many babyboomers after divorce, job loss are heartbroken and confused. Change is always difficult and the idea of starting over can be daunting. But here's something to remember. As a generation, we are living longer and healthier than ever before, facing more chapters in our lives than our parents and grandparents could imagine. One of the most important lessons I learned from Sigrid's story is her passion to do what she loves.
Sunday is proud to present Paul White.
